love and congratulations :)

Happy 50th Anniversary to my Grandpa and Grandpa Gillett! Love you! They had a rather short engagement...I'm not positive that I have all of the details straight, but here's the story of their relationship.

In the summer of 1960, Clara Lou Bacon (my grandmother) was in a "serious relationship." I think she might have even been engaged...but, of course, the man that she was engaged to was not my grandfather. The young man that she was engaged to went off at the beginning of the summer to sell Bibles door to door. Clara said that she wouldn't date anyone unless he had a boat, because she loved to jet ski. Well, my grandpa had a boat, and one of his friends was dating Clara's best friend....and Clara's best friend set them up on a date! Billy Earl Gillett was handsome (and he had the boat!) and I think he might have smoked. I'm guessing it was some sort of fairy-tale love-at-first-sight, because a few weeks later, Bill told his family that he's found the woman he was going to marry. Bill and Clara were married by the end of the summer, and the young man that went off to sell Bibles came home to find his girl married to someone else.

Moral of the story: Men, if you go off to sell Bibles for the summer, marry your girl first, because apparently absence does not make the heart grow fonder. :)

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrong.

Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth.

It always protects,

always trusts,

always hopes,

always perseveres.

Love never fails.

The lady in the plaid dress in the 3rd picture looks sooo much like you. I'm hoping you two are related. ;D
